Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and play assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, took control to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
